In the northeast quadrant of a Cork ringfort, a stone-lined chamber waited beneath the soil, measuring six feet by two and a half feet. Hartnett found debris choking the floor, leaving only three feet of breathable space before the flagged roof. The passage has since closed, yet a small opening still reveals lintels and ancient stone work. That much of the chamber remains hidden invites wonder about what human hands built there and why they buried it beneath the fort.

In NE quadrant of ringfort (CO050-044001-). Hartnett (1939, 178) recorded single, stone-lined chamber '6 feet by 21/2 feet'; floor 'covered by debris' giving present height to flagged roof of '3 feet'. Now inaccessible; small opening reveals stone lining and lintels of chamber. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
