This black commemorative plaque records: World Speed Record Attempts. Marske & Saltburn Sands were the scene of attempts on annual World Speed Records 1906-1937 organised by Leeds Motor Club and Middlesborough Motor Club. 1924 Sir Malcolm Campbell set a record for cars at 144.32 miles per hour. 1928 Ron Storey set a record for motorcycles at 122.91 miles per hour Recorded plaque organisation: Saltburn, Marske & New Marske Parish Council.
