Máire Ní Chinnéide

Máire Ní Chinnéide was born in Rathmines in 1879, the same year Sean MacGearailt entered the world, and she later married him after spending her final scholarship pound on a dowry. She helped shape camogie from hurling, led its new association, and carried Irish language pride into public life. Rathmines gave birth to a woman who turned local energy into national games and culture.
