Battle of Rathmines is a major battle site with a checked map point.
The Battle of Rathmines was fought in 1649 between the New Model Army of Oliver Cromwell and the Irish Confederate forces. Cromwell's forces won a decisive victory, which opened the way for the subsequent Siege of Dublin and marked the beginning of the brutal Cromwellian conquest of Ireland.
