Low Gait Crags is a sea cliff composed of Carboniferous limestone, formed around 340–320 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. It is notable for its exposure of durable rock layers that have withstood coastal erosion, offering a local example of the geological history of the Cumberland region.
