Louis Brennan was born in Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland, on 28 January 1852. He left for Melbourne, Australia, in 1861 and became a mechanical engineer known for the Brennan Torpedo, a gyro monorail and a helicopter. Castlebar is the place where that life began before his inventions changed distant battles and exhibition halls.
