Long Gutter Edge is a sandstone sea cliff formed during the Permian period, around 250 to 300 million years ago, through the deposition of aeolian and fluvial sediments in a desert environment. It is notable for its well-preserved cross-bedding, which provides insight into ancient wind and water patterns.
