Loch Chliuthair is a coastal bay on the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides, characterized by sea cliffs composed primarily of Jurassic sandstone and limestone. These rocks formed around 160 to 170 million years ago through sedimentary deposition in a shallow tropical sea, and the cliffs are notable for their exposure of fossil-rich layers and the influence of glacial and marine erosion on their present form.
