What is recorded here

The National Monuments Record of Wales records Llandovery Castle as Castle from the Medieval period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Llandovery Castle was built in the 13th century by the de Landovery family, a Norman-Welsh lineage, and later held by the powerful Lord Rhys and his descendants of the House of Dinefwr. It is remembered as a key medieval stronghold in the struggle between Welsh princes and English expansion in south Wales.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
