Llanbedrog's walking trail leaves the National Trust beach car park on the Llŷn Peninsula and climbs through woodland to the headland of Mynydd Tir-y-Cwmwd. It is a three-mile round trip with Cardigan Bay on show and a Tin Man at the top; if he offers directions, he has been standing out in the weather too long. Cross from the car park towards Plas Glyn y Weddw, then pass the art gallery and its outdoor theatre to find the rising woodland path. The Trust dates the gallery to 1857 and records a former tram to Pwllheli. After a gradual climb and final stone steps, the heath opens out above the beach. The Tin Man sculpture marks a place to pause over views towards Abersoch, the St Tudwal's Islands and the mountains beyond the bay. The route circles the headland before dropping to a track and road through upper Llanbedrog, then returns to the beach car park. Allow about two hours for its 4.8 kilometres. The Trust grades it moderate, with steps and uneven ground on the headland, so the beach below is no reason to arrive in footwear better suited to a level promenade. Dogs are welcome, but keep them under control around other walkers and wildlife. Start and finish at Llanbedrog beach car park, grid reference SH33017 31530; this is not a walk from Pwllheli despite the old tram story. Check local parking information before travelling and follow the signed paths through the gallery grounds and woodland. The reward is a changing view of the Llŷn coast, delivered one uphill step at a time, with a metal gentleman waiting at the top as though he personally arranged the panorama.
