Lizard Point is a prominent headland in Cornwall composed mainly of serpentine and other ultramafic rocks, formed during the closure of the Iapetus Ocean around 470–460 million years ago. It is notable as the southernmost point of mainland Britain and for its unique geology, which supports rare flora and has attracted geological study for centuries.
