What is recorded here

This grey commemorative plaque records: This is the site of the former Littlegate, sometimes known as Little South Gate, first mentioned in 1244 and one of the seven medieval gates of the City of Oxford. Excavations in 1971 and 1972 uncovered the footings of the west side of the gate and the 13th century city wall.
Littlegate, or Little South Gate, was one of the seven medieval gates of Oxford, first documented in 1244; archaeological excavations in the early 1970s revealed parts of its structure and the adjacent 13th-century city wall.

A plaque record does not grant entry to a building or private land. View it from a public place unless permission is clearly given.
