Little Crags is a sea cliff composed of Carboniferous limestone, formed around 340–320 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. It is notable for its exposure of durable limestone strata, which contribute to the distinctive coastal scenery of North Yorkshire and provide insights into ancient reef environments.
