Lissananny Cave is one of several newly documented chambers hidden beneath the Quaternary mantle of County Roscommon, a region where abundant limestone was long mistaken for ordinary soil. The cave joins a sudden expansion of known chambers in an inland county previously dismissed as cave-poor, revealing that water and time continued carving conduits while humans looked elsewhere. Its discovery corrects a regional blind spot and reminds us that much of the midlands still holds unseen rooms, waiting for someone to stop assuming the ground is empty.
