What is recorded here

Lissananny is a vanished Galway ringfort, reduced to a level field and a hidden underground passage. Costello recorded in 1903 that most of the fort was levelled and its ditch filled with stones, erasing the circular wall from ordinary sight. The earth kept the shape beneath the soil, waiting for footsteps patient enough to find the dark opening.

In a level tilled field. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure (D c. 40m). No visible surface trace survives. Costello (1903, 3) noted that 'the greater part of this fort was levelled and the ditch filled with stones'. There is a Man-made underground passage (GA029-010001-) within the interior.
