Lisnaheaga, Cappalea South is a ringfort, a type of early-medieval agricultural and defensive settlement, typically dating between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. Local folklore may associate such sites with fairy legends, as many ringforts in Ireland are traditionally believed to be entrances to the Otherworld or homes of the fairies.
