Anne Dirrane died in 1846, prompting the building of a tall drystone pier beside the school in Inis Mór. The cross atop the pier has fallen, yet the plaques still face north across the road toward a cluster of older wayside cairns. Children likely ran past the marker daily, unaware that human grief and ancient stone rituals still occupied the same narrow strip of earth.

On S side of road, beside the present school, in Fearann an Choirce, Inis Mór. Dilapidated square drystone pier (L/Wth 1.2m, H 1.75m), originally surmounted by a cross, now displaced. Its N face contains two plaques commemorating 'Anne Dirrane', dated 1846. There is a group of wayside cairns (GA110-045----) directly opposite, on N side of road.
