Le Mauvais Pas is a sea cliff composed of Carboniferous sandstone, formed around 320–340 million years ago through sedimentary deposition in a shallow marine environment. It is notable for its exposure of durable rock layers that contribute to the coastal geomorphology of the North Ayrshire area.
