Clarke identified a public latrine on the east side of Fyans Castle in 1571. The precise spot has vanished, leaving only the chance that ordinary people relieved themselves beside a castle wall while officials looked away. That missing marker preserves more life than a polished monument because it admits the body, the street and the city’s daily grime.

Clarke mentions the former existence of a public latrine on the E side of Fyans Castle which was built in 1571 (2002, 28). Not precisely located.
