Lad Crags is a sea cliff composed primarily of Ordovician volcanic and sedimentary rocks, formed around 470–450 million years ago through volcanic activity and subsequent marine sedimentation. It is notable for its exposure of ancient volcanic sequences and associated metamorphic rocks, which contribute to the geological diversity of the Lake District and surrounding coastal areas.
