La Trinidad Valencera, one of the largest ships of the Spanish Armada, sank in Kinnagoe Bay during September 1588. Derry divers rediscovered the wreck in 1971, revealing a massive wooden skeleton buried beneath Donegal waters. The ship remains one of the most important Armada finds in Ireland, preserving the scale of that doomed fleet long after human memory faded.
