Kyleatansally Burial Gd (Site of)

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Kyleatansally in County Clare, Ireland marks a children's burial ground, though the exact age and the names of the departed have vanished. The ground may have swallowed infants during plague, famine or ordinary cruelty, forcing adults to dig shallow holes in haste. That uncertainty is not a gap, but the shape of the place: a field where adult memory failed the smallest people.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
