Kyle Burial Ground

Situated at the SW end of a NE-SW ridge in an upland area. A natural rise of ground has been shaped at N to form an oval area (9m N-S; 13m SW-NE) defined by a scarp (H 1.3-0.3m) with evidence of rows of uninscribed grave-markers orientated on a N-S axis. The OS Namebooks (c. 1840) describe the site as 'Kyle: a small burying ground for stillborn children'. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary.
