Situated on a NE-facing slope of rising ground in a mountainous area. A large natural boulder protruding at an angle from the surface of the ground known locally as the 'Tomb Stone of the King of Leinster'(Westropp 1911-12, 186-212). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002).
