What is recorded here

Knockaboy is a faded oval rath on a Galway farm rise, its earth and stone bank still marking half the circle while the rest has surrendered to grass and forgetting. The missing arc does not feel like loss but invitation, as if the fort completed itself in dreams before withdrawing from sight. A person walking that field at dusk may sense the absent wall pressing back, not as ghost story but as the place remembering the shape it once held.
On a gentle rise in farmland. Poorly preserved oval rath (42m NNW-SSE) defined by a bank of earth and stone from SSW through N to E. No visible surface trace survives from E to SSW. (McCaffrey 1952, 184, no. 84) Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 5 January 2017
