Kinure Castle vanished from a west-facing slope above Ballinclashet creek, leaving no stone or ditch for modern eyes to find. A branch of the Roche family built and lived there in 1576, likely watching the water and defending their local claim. The earth keeps that much of the story private, but the creek still flows beneath the hidden walls.

Built by a branch of the Roche family in the late 16th century, Kinure Castle is remembered for its strategic location overlooking Ballinclashet creek and as evidence of Norman-Irish settlement in the region.
