Kinnaird Castle in Byres, Angus, survives only as a byre, its castle identity lost to time. The exact location is known, but the purpose and period remain unrecorded. A byre suggests animals, not lords, yet the name Kinnaird implies a family and a fortress. Perhaps the castle collapsed and the field repurposed the stones for livestock, erasing the chamber and leaving only the barn.
