King's Chair is a prominent coastal rock feature composed of whin sill, a type of dolerite, and is part of the Jurassic-aged volcanic intrusions in Northumberland. It formed around 160 million years ago through the slow cooling of magma intruded into sedimentary rock layers, and is notable for its striking vertical cliffs and historical association with local folklore and coastal landmarks.
