This is where the English King Edward II camped on 23rd June 1314 at the end of the first night of the battle of Bannock burn. The English invasion army was pushed back by King Robert Bruce into the Pelstream burn & the Bannock burn the following day.
English forces under King Edward II fought Scottish forces led by King Robert Bruce on 23–24 June 1314 at Bannockburn. The Scots decisively defeated the English, securing Scottish independence and marking a turning point in the Wars of Scottish Independence.
