Kiln

Discovered during the development of playing pitches at Dundalk Institute of Technology (Excavation Licence Nos. 02E0008 (area 17) and 02E0200). Excavation revealed a figure-of-eight shaped kiln (L 2.6M; Wth 1.33m; max. D 0.91m) flanked by two small enclosures. A piece of alder timber found in the northern kiln bowl yielded a calibrated radiocarbon date of AD 330-580.
