Kilmashogue Wedge Tomb

Kilmashogue Wedge Tomb is one of the oldest death chambers still standing in County Dublin. Its unusual triple wall builds a long stone gallery that points toward Montpelier Hill, where another ancient tomb once watched the valley. People may have carried their dead through forest paths and laid them beneath a mound of stones, trusting the mountain to keep the shape of their lives. Much of that mound has vanished into nearby walls, but the chamber remains sharp enough to imagine the darkness inside.
