Kilmacduagh Monastery

Kilmacduagh Monastery stands as a ruined abbey near Gort where Saint Colman, son of Duagh, built a church on land given by his cousin King Guaire Aidne mac Colmáin of Connacht. The site survived repeated raids and became the birthplace of a major diocese before Owen O'Heyne replaced the damaged buildings with an Augustinian house. Today the round tower and broken walls still mark the place where human ambition, faith and loss kept colliding across centuries.
