What is recorded here
Killultan Fairy Fort is a Donegal ringfort where a raised earthen platform stands behind a silted ditch and faint outer bank on a sea-facing grass ridge. Its interior is mostly flat except for six stones poking through the soil, like marks left behind when the fortune changed. People may have lived there, herded there or simply watched the water from the edge of the marsh, but the fort still keeps its shape against the sky.
Internal diam. 27.8m E-W, 29.3m N-S. An earthen platform from .5m to 1.5m above the surrounding ground is enclosed by an earthen bank up to .68m in height and by a largely silted-up fosse, best evident on the SW side, varying from 2.6m to 3.2m in width. There is slight evidence of an outer bank up to .3m in height and 4.7m in width. Six stones protrude through the surface of the interior, otherwise it is flat. The site is located on a prominent height overlooking the sea to the N, S and W in an area of good grass-land. There is some marshy land immediately to the S.
