What is recorded here
Killaneetig Ch stands beneath a modern farmbuilding in County Cork, preserving the hidden heart of an old church. Local tradition remembers the site as a mass-house, suggesting worship continued long after formal structures fell or changed. The building above may hide stairs, chambers or buried prayer rather than erase them.
Modern farmbuilding on site of church. According to local tradition a "mass-house" (O'Donoghue 1986, 117).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
