Kilkenny Gaol

Nowlan Park holds most of Kilkenny Gaol beneath its bank, a buried chamber from the 1820 jail that waited out three decades of locked doors before demolition in 1948. A small stone still points to the site, while the larger body sleeps under grass and footsteps. People may have dragged chains, whispered through vents or simply starved for daylight there. The park does not mention the jail, but it carries the weight of every room the men and women occupied.
