Kilcummer Viaduct

In pasture, to N of Bridgetown Abbey (14381). Bridge carrying railway from top of limestone bluff on E side of Awbeg River across valley. Iron trellis bridge supported on 8 masonry piers. Piers (5.82m x 2.45m; c. 13.35m apart) of coursed limestone blocks with rock-faced finish; taper gently with height, reaching maximum height of over 15m. Abutments overgrown, E abutment atop limestone bluff. Line constructed after Mallow and Fermoy railway incorporated into Great Southern & Western Railway line in 1854; built by Dargan, railway line opened in 1860, closed 1967 (Rowledge 1995, 91) and line removed.
