This commemorative plaque records: Ancient Well of Little St Mungo. Restored 1906. Near this spot Christian Converts met St Kentigern (St Mungo) on his return from Wales. Near this spot also his meeting with St Columbus is said, by some historians, to have taken place.
St Kentigern, also known as Saint Mungo, was a 6th-century Celtic bishop credited with founding the city of Glasgow; he is remembered for his role in establishing Christianity in Strathclyde and for miracles associated with his ministry.
