Kathleen Mannington Caffyn

Birthplace

What is recorded here

Half a century before the world listened, Kathleen Mannington Hunt was born into the quiet grandeur of Waterloo House in Thurles, County Tipperary. That house gave her no classroom, only governesses and the particular confidence of land-owning Irish Protestants. It also gave her a mind sharp enough to leave Ireland, become a nurse, marry a surgeon, cross to Australia, and write herself into history as Iota.
