The *Kaparika* was a steamship built in 1917, later identified as a collier of Scottish origin. It was lost in 1940 during World War II when it struck a mine off the coast of Ayrshire, resulting in the deaths of all 35 crew members; the wreck remains a significant wartime shipwreck and diving site in Scottish waters.
