Joseph Aspdin blue plaque

This blue commemorative plaque records: Joseph Aspdin (1778-1855). Portland Cement, one of mankind's most important manufactured materials, was patented by Joseph Aspdin, a Leeds bricklayer, on 21 October 1824. Aspdin lived in this yard (then called Slip Inn Yard) and first sold his cement in Angel Inn Yard Recorded plaque organisation: Leeds Civic Trust.
