Jonathan Swift served as prebendary at Old Church in County Antrim from 1695 to 1697, a brief residency now marked by a blue plaque. The Ulster History Circle recorded the fact on ceramic, fixing a wandering wit to one stone wall. Swift wrote Gulliver's Travels later, yet he first learned the shape of human folly in this small Irish church.
