John Walsh Memorial is a memorial in County Cork, Ireland. Perhaps the blacksmith from Ballyannon bled onto that soil in 1798 before he died. Maybe the Midleton 1798 committee built the marker only years later because witness and warning matter more than distance. Imagine a man struck for what he believed, remembered not as a victim but as the reason the stone exists.
In honour of John Walsh - Blacksmith Ballyannon - who was flogged to death in 1798 - Erected by the Midleton 1798 committee
