John Redmond

John Redmond was born in 1856 at Ballytrent House in Kilrane, County Wexford, the old mansion of his grandfather. That rural address launched a moderate nationalist who later united the Irish Parliamentary Party and helped pass the Government of Ireland Act 1914. His life moved from a Wexford drawing room to London debates, where he balanced home rule, war duty and the changing tide of Irish politics.
