This blue commemorative plaque records: Near here stood one of the first Children’s Emigration Homes founded by John Middlemore (1844-1924). In memory of more than 5,000 children sent to Canada and Australia between 1873 and 1954 Recorded plaque organisation: Birmingham Civic Society.
