This blue commemorative plaque records: James V 1513-1542 travelled incognito through Fife as the 'Giud Man o'Ballengiech', coming to the Dreel Burn and fearful of wetting his hose, he was carried across at this point by a stout Gaberlunzie woman who was rewarded with the king's purse. King James V of Scotland ruled from 1513 to 1542 and is remembered for his efforts to strengthen royal authority and limit the power of the nobility.
