James Barry

Barry was born in 1795 in County Cork, Ireland, and lived as a man who became a leading doctor. He raised medical standards inside and outside the army before dying in 1865. Some contemporaries discussed his birth details only after his death, intruding into a life he had already shaped on his own terms.
