What is recorded here

Crannog islands were ancient lake houses, built of timber and intention. If this is one, it stood in Fermanagh water long before records, likely raised from reeds, soil and chopped wood. People may have cooked, birthed children and buried tools there, then left the island to drown under decades of rain. What remains is a submerged room, waiting for patience.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ISLAND, possibly CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
