What is recorded here

Crannog is a man-made island, often built of brushwood, soil and stone, and the name still floats in Corrardaghy water. The possibility is enough to see it: a small round landmass standing in wet darkness, roped to shore or reached by a narrow causeway. People may have lived there, raised animals, hidden goods or simply enjoyed the strangeness of owning a little world surrounded by water. The official record hesitates, but the shape is clear.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ISLAND, possibly CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
