Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Irish Trader as Motor Vessel (period Unassigned)-(1974). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The *Irish Trader* was a motor vessel built in 1974, later identified as a fishing vessel operating in Scottish waters. It was lost in 1982 during a storm off the coast of Caithness, resulting in the deaths of all six crew members; the wreck remains a significant site for local maritime heritage and archaeological study.
