Inveraray Castle Estate, Carloonan, Limekiln is an 18th-century lime kiln in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, built to burn stone into lime for castle work. Heat may have roared inside its chamber while men carried heavy sacks of white powder through rain and wind. The estate still owns the memory, even if the kiln cools into silence.
